Talentes
Playing the guitar: From self-teaching alone, Sam has mastered the six-string guitar. When it comes to covering popular songs, he usually teaches himself how to play them by ear. Otherwise, his music is usually composed in his head, rather than being written on paper. He does not use or read sheet music.
Singing: Sam has a low-tenor singing voice, complementing his inclination to play romantic ballads on his guitar.
Slow dancing: Coming from a wealthy background, parties and gatherings of the social elite were common. Dancing was a skill Sam was taught from a young age. While he doesn't willingly attend parties anymore, he knows how to poise himself if the occasion calls for it.
Weaknessess
Perfectionism: All that glitters is not gold. His rich background was not just given to him on a silver platter, he had to uphold his status. So much so that Sam was traumatized by the perfectionist attitude he was raised with. He sometimes has trouble accepting anything less than perfection, and has yet to grasp the idea that perfection does not exist.
Accepting help: Synonymous with perfectionism, Sam believes that a man should make his own way, without the help of others. He will be adamant (or arguably, stubborn) in his efforts to do something on his own.
Drinking and drugs Sam is so clean, he puts the word "straight-edge" to shame. He has unknowingly drank alcohol before (courtesy of his former roommate Harper), and refuses to try smoking.

Samuel Cyril Wolff was born to Jack "Algernon" Cyril Wolff and Hazel Leah Rose. Algernon was a successful lawyer, and Hazel was an accountant. His father's work ethic became part of the family life, acting strict and cold at home. It was tough love, but Sam didn't feel any 'love' from the old man. Hazel didn't agree with it either, but nevertheless, she was patient with her husband and kinder towards her son.

Sam was brought up with a perfectionist attitude, one that he could never uphold. After all, there is no limit to how good you could be. You can always be better. Those were one of the lessons his father had taught him. Sam also had a rich lifestyle to uphold. Attending parties, meeting important people, learning about politics and law, and making your way to the top of the "food chain" and staying there.

While passing by a guitar store on his way home from school one day, he overheard a customer playing an acoustic guitar. The sound of it mesmerized Sam, and he just could not bring himself to walk away. The next afternoon, Sam went and bought himself a guitar with some saved allowance. He wanted to be just like the guy he saw, captivating people with music. Being free from the constraint of a strict family life was another promising prospect. Upon arriving home, he revealed his impulsive purchase while confessing his dream to his parents. His mother gave him a warm approval. His father was not so accepting.

"I didn't raise you to take after some random guy with a twanger in a cheap music shop." That was the start of their argument. Algernon didn't want a musician for a son, he needed a successor to his empire. That was the plan he had in mind since before Sam was even born. Their argument only escalated from there, until his father drew the final straw. "No son of mine who believes music is a career is welcomed in this home!"

Two days after his fourteenth birthday, Sam ran away from home, with only the clothes on his back and his guitar. He wasn't about to keep on living with a father who ridiculed and resented his own son's dreams. For a couple of years, Sam was living on the street, raising money by performing around the village. While playing his guitar near the D'Orazio Bar, he was found by Harper Jones, a free-spirited music lover. She agreed to let him move into her apartment, under the condition that he would perform with her at the bar to make his rent.

The two lived together for four years, until he moved back to the Wolff estate to reunite with the family he had run away from. His father had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, a detail that Sam discovered during a mock interview that Harper arranged. While the senior Wolff was recovering from chemotherapy, Sam took up an internship at Wolff & Carter at the request of his father's business partner Thomas Carter. Most of his time went to working and studying from law textbooks to make sure he could keep the job. To free up some time, he asked to leave D'Orazio. His only job would be performing at Sirena's Coffee House.

The Wolff estate was finally a happy place again with the return of the prodigal son. But the happiness was short-lived, as Algernon could not fight off the cancer forever. The elder Wolff finally died the day after Sam's 24th birthday. Overcome with grief, Sam ran away from home once again, without a word. After sitting through a series of buses and trains, he arrived in Los Angeles.

With no connections to his past, Sam had to start over as a homeless young man in a city he knew nothing about. It took a few weeks to find work, and it was nowhere near as fun or interesting as the jobs he had back home. Sam was a McDonald's employee, a restaurant dishwasher, a stagehand for a musical, and a customer service representative. With the money he had raised from his first two jobs, he was able to rent a studio apartment for himself.

Sam spent his free time writing lyrics and recording an album. The sadness he was feeling over his father's passing made its way into his songs. He wrote about death, loss, longing, loneliness, and family. There were nights when he would stop writing and cry himself to sleep on a pile of papers.

Once the album was compiled, Sam reached out to recording studios to try and sell his work. One after another, record producers felt that his sound was unmarketable. He was told that no one would want to listen to a boy crying about his depressing life in song. Sam took it upon himself to sell and advertise the album on his own. It had sold less than a hundred copies.

With his failed solo venture into music and the overall unhappiness of his new life, Sam decided to return to Fiore Village. He no longer believes he is an heir to his father's estate, or part of the social elite. This time, he is just a boy coming home.

platonic
Sam is a reserved and shy person at heart, especially as of late because he has been away from home for so long. But he is a good listener, and you will find a true friend if you earn his trust. His passion for music is a good bonding point. He also loves an iced mocha every now and then.
antagonistic
Sam is not one to make enemies, unless you speak ill of his loved ones. It's difficult for him to get along with outspoken people, as he is a man of few words. But his few words will always be honest. He will never sugar coat anything, which could also rub people the wrong way. His mantra is "never forgive, never forget", which means he will hold grudges.
romantic
Despite being a silent soul, Sam is a hopeless romantic who wears his heart on his sleeve. He lives for all of the clichés: Finding "the one", kissing in the rain, love letters, etc. He acts like a total gentleman around the woman he loves, and will reserve himself for her. While he may fall hard and fast, he needs to build a deep trust with his partner before anything serious happens. He does not condone cheating, and will waste no time breaking things off if he finds something suspicious.

Hazel and Sam
Hazel runs the two inns in the town so they could meet there. I doubt she would recognize him after two years. Hazel def still loves her son, but I doubt they had that closeness like before. More of a betrayed feeling, so it may take Sam a lot to prove himself again.

Tatty and Sam
The house rental is still a thing, despite she's now a permanent resident in the town. She owns a farm house and rents the bungalow like an Air BnB or a place to some of her worker's. So it's not a long term rental.

But yeah, they could hang out. Maybe at the market or something? She's mellowed out and matured, focusing on her career.

Chae + Sam
I love this idea! Sam can come help her stock shelves and...honestly it's retail, mostly they'll stand around shooting the breeze I imagine XD But she can invite him to game with her and her group, teach him the finer points of D&D. Or at least enough to pass for someone who knows what they're talking about online lmao

As for their initial meeting, maybe Chae is running some sort of promotion where she set up some tables and let people try out some games before they buy them. A sort of game education day or whatever? He can come in to check it out and maybe she shows him how one of the two player games works, or shows him a single player game, or they can just talk about non-digital gaming in general.

I mean, she can hire him on the spot lmao. It's not necessarily something she wouldn't do. But yeah, I think that's better left as just a "this is roughly where we're going with this" kind of thing. And yeah, I guess it would kind of be like an open house for games. This is actually the business model for a shop I know. They have a cover charge to get in, then a library of games you can pick up off the shelf and play. Plus they sell coffee. Chae's place isn't like this, though, and there won't be a surcharge. She'll be putting out test copies of a selection of games for players to choose from to test out for free for one day only, and you can't leave the shop with them. I can start the thread, since I only have I think one other reply to get to atm

I think out of everyone, Harper will be the most welcoming. While she was upset and gave up – I think that he’s alive and well is what makes her happy. Again, it will take a while to rebuild that relationship after a two-year strain. But I doubt Sam will have to prove himself, so she’ll be easier than his family.
